HAPPY NEW YEAR!
At the beginning of each new year I always take some time to write my New Year’s resolutions. In addition to the many personal resolutions I set for myself, I also set goals for my home. For instance, is there a room that needs organizing? A room that needs painting? Am I missing any furniture or decor?
RESOLUTION #1 – RENOVATING HALL BATHROOM
This year I have multiple home resolutions I plan to tackle. My first goal is to renovate our upstairs hall bathroom. Not only is it dated, but there are holes in the walls from the previous owner, the toilet does not flush properly, and the tub has mold and mildew that I cannot scrub away no matter how hard I try.
RESOLUTION #2 – PAINTING INTERIOR OF HOME
The next big project to tackle is finishing painting the rest of the house. We have lived in our house for 3.5 years and with our work schedules, other projects, life, etc. we just have not had the time to finish this chore. I remember thinking that we would get all the painting completed before we moved in to our house. YEAH RIGHT! We had a month from our closing date to our move in date and I REALLY misjudged how long painting takes to complete. If you want to paint every surface so it looks fresh (prep work, multiple coats of paint on the ceiling, walls, and trim) it is incredibly time-consuming and difficult to complete in such a short time frame.
RESOLUTION #3 – ORGANIZING THE GARAGE AND LAUNDRY ROOM
My final major resolution is to organize the garage and laundry room. These are two areas that have completely gotten out of control in the past few years. The laundry room has become a storage space for a lot of random crap. Walking in let alone doing laundry is a major challenge.
The garage is in better shape than the laundry room because my husband did do a quick cleanup of the garage over the holidays. While it looks significantly better, I still do not really know where anything is.
I am excited to tackle these projects this year and if I get them all completed as planned I know it will be a good year! Do you have any resolutions for your home?
